Two Dots (Sparcade)
Two Dots was the second game within Sparcade that I designed, in conjunction with Joju Games.
Two Dots is a gorgeous, elegant, tactile game in which players draw lines to connect matching colored dots, clearing them from the board.
While staying true to the original game, we designed this version to best fit the competitive match structure.
Players see how many levels they can complete before a timer runs out.
I chose the locations, power-ups, and obstacles from the original game that would work best in the context of a timed, skill-based, competitive match.
I wrote tutorials and tips, and reviewed all level design and layouts.
I also generated thousands of game data records that determined the way that levels are selected for an easy, medium, or difficult match.
And I wrote lots of punny character dialog that appears before, during, and after a game.
We played up the theme of adventure and exploration, making each short match feel like an exciting journey through a unique landscape.
