“Adventure Escape: Starstruck” was the first game that I designed and wrote for Haiku Games. The Adventure Escape series combines adventure gameplay and puzzles with an engaging storyline and characters. The story follows Detective Kate Gray as she investigates the disappearance of a famous actress.
I chose a wide variety of locations throughout the city where Kate would have to search, from the fanciest celebrity mansion to the creepiest city park. She finds the dead body of the celebrity’s personal assistant along the way, and the case gets stranger and stranger!
I love designing puzzles that fit into the narrative, like finding your way through the creepy forest trails, running lab tests on the dead body that you found, dodging security cameras outside the mansion, or capturing the culprit before he escapes on his boat.
I created a cast of suspicious and eccentric characters that Detective Kate meets along the way. Writing character dialog for this murder mystery was such fun.
